Mystery Book Group – March

After the harder last two books we’ve read, we’re going with something a little lighter this month. It’s a recent publication but will take us back to the early 1900’s and the true story of the Kopp Sisters. It’s an historical mystery, but it’s a fun and easy read, and we’ve earned it after the darkness of the last couple of months! (We meet the third Tuesday of the month to talk about mystery/thrillers and we are starting a wait list so let us know if you’d like to be on it.)

Mystery Book Group – Jan

It’s been a while since we’ve read a local author and had them visit with us, but we’re finally doing it again! This month we’re reading and discussing The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld, and she will be joining us to talk about it! This one takes place in a fictional wintery Oregon, so seemed appropriate for January.

Mystery Book Group – Dec

Up this month is a lighter read than we had at the holidays last year. We’ll be reading The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie for our December read, which should put us more in the holiday mood (than The Deep Blue Good-by did last year). We read mysteries and thrillers and meet on the third Tuesday of every month to discuss them.

Mystery Book Group – Nov

We haven’t read a thriller in a while, so this month we’re reading The Dry by Jane Harper, which came out early last year to excellent reviews. It takes place in Australia, which we’ve visited before, but never like this.

Mystery Book Group – Oct

This month we go way back in time (although not nearly that far in publication) for The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis. It takes place in Ancient Rome, just after the period usually written about (ending with Nero), so should give us some new information about the time, and hopefully a good mystery, too.

Mystery Book Group – April

This month’s mystery group discussion will focus on Too Many Cooks, by Rex Stout. This is one of the rare instances where we won’t be reading the first book in a series, as there is no continued arc to follow with Nero Wolfe. (We meet the third Tuesday of every month and usually discuss the first book in a mystery or thriller series.)

The book for March is The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. Mystery Book Group meets on the third Tuesday of every month. All welcome for the discussion!

Mystery Book Group – Feb

This month we’re reading – and will be visiting with! – local author Kathleen Concannon’s A Deadly Bluff. This is a national park mystery, and it’s a  perfect time for visiting the outdoors in our books while it’s rainy and chilly in real life. (We meet on the third Tuesday of every month to discuss Mystery/Thrillers and every 3 or 4 months read a local author’s book and have them join the discussion.)
