One of the most important ways for authors to sell their books is by connecting to readers at a reading. Many authors struggle with the reading portion of the writing project that is their book. Local author Cindy Brown (author of the Ivy Meadow mystery series) has this talent down to an art, and she wants to help authors who have more trouble with this aspect, and increase your sales. This workshop will include on the spot feedback for select authors. Email elisa@anotherreadthrough for more information or to sign up.
It’s our local author month and I’m so excited to have Cindy Brown to discuss the first book in her Ivy Meadows series, Macdeath. We will briefly discuss it amongst ourselves, starting at 7, and Cindy will join us at 7:30 to answer questions we have and tell us all of her (and Ivy’s) secrets. We meet the third Tuesday of every month to discuss mysteries/thrillers, and have local authors join us every quarter or so. Join us!
Today is the day that authors around the country help us celebrate the reality that is independent book selling. Authors will be visiting bookstores to talk with customers, make reading recommendations, and sign their books (if wanted). Authors are readers, too, and this is their chance to get people excited about what they’re reading, or some of their old favorites. And we’ve got quite a lineup for you!
The parade of authors visiting us today:
11-1: Courtney Pierce, Margaret Pinard, and Jeannie Burt
12:30-2:30: Nancy Slavin
1-3: Linda Vogt
2-4: Cindy Brown and Lisa Alber
3-5: Anne Hendren
4-5: Tracy Manaster and Alexis Smith
Join local author Cindy Brown and her friends from Portland Actors Ensemble and Oregon Fencing Alliance in celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday. We’ll hear a reading from Cindy’s book, Macdeath, as well as see a short performance from Macbeth (courtesy of Portland Actors Ensemble) and witness a sword fight (thanks to Oregon Fencing Alliance). Participate in the Shakespeare reading afterwards for a chance to win a free copy of Macdeath and a tshirt from PAE!
