Pride Foundation Literary Fundraiser

It’s our annual Pride Foundation Literary Fundraiser! This is one of the most exciting events we have every year, where we get to highlight the great work done for the queer community by the local (Pacific NW) organization, Pride Foundation, and hear fantastic work by local queer authors. This year we’ll hear from Kate Gray (Carry the Sky), Karelia Stetz-Waters (For Good), Sam Roxas-Chua (Fawn Language), and April Daniels (Dreadnought). You’ll have an opportunity to donate to Pride Foundation after hearing about all of the amazing work they do, have authors read to you, nosh on snacks, and have a drink. Join us, it’s one of our “must not miss” events of the year!

Writing Salon with Kate Gray

Kate Gray (Carry the SkyAnother Sunset We SurviveBone KnowingWhere She Goes) is hosting writing salons in our loft, using famous women authors and their work as inspiration for writing prompts. She’ll use The Gateless Method and focus on the positive in everyone’s work, bringing out the best in everyone and their work. This salon will focus on Toni Morrison and her work. This is Kate’s last workshop, so if you wanted a chance to write with her, now is your chance. (Don’t worry, though, Celeste Gurevich is taking over!) To sign up, send me an email here: elisa at anotherreadthrough.com. Preregistration preferred and discounted.

Strong Female Characters

Long before the election, we’d planned on talking Overcoming with Kathleen Lane (The Best Worst Thing), Kate Gray (Carry the Sky), and Kate Ristau (Clockbreakers). Now it only seems more prescient than ever to be talking about this. So join us to talk overcoming in general, for their characters, for their writing, and for strong female characters everywhere. (This is part of a free quarterly discussion featuring 3 local female authors who come and discuss issues that matter to female readers, writers, and characters.)
