The Store
Whether you’re looking for something specific, want to wander amid thousands of books, or even just talk with someone about books, we’d love to have you stop by. We specialize in fiction for adults and kids, with smaller sections for mystery, nonfiction, bio/memoir, science fiction and fantasy, true crime, poetry, manga, and young adult books. We have multiple monthly readings from local authors and other cool and fun things for people of all ages (check out the events page for more information). Wander in and find an old favorite you want to revisit, or a new author to get excited about.
The Owner
Elisa loves reading books, being around books, talking about books, recommending books, holding books, standing by books, seeing other people read books, organizing books, staring at books, and dreaming about books. She’s wanted to open a used bookstore since she was a kid, but was waiting to live in a city she wanted to stay in. She finally felt at home in a city when she moved to Portland in 2007. She first moved to North Portland, and still loves this area and neighborhood, and wants to be a part of its growth. This little neighborhood bookshop (and being in it every day) is a dream come true for Elisa.

Check back to see our partners in community grow.
We care about books and literature, but we also care about social justice and the community. To that end, we will feature an organization each quarter to receive 1% of our profits (We’ll work up to 1% of sales.) For suggestions of organizations you want to see benefit, click here or email In the meantime, check back soon to learn about our chosen organization.  (Help us reach profitability so we can start donating to local organizations ASAP!)
We hope to contribute to the community not just by giving 1% back, but also by exemplifying the Portland “reduce, reuse, recycle, and replant” mentality. We sell used books in an environmentally friendly building on a street with many resale/repurpose shops and our kid’s bookmarks even can be planted to grow flowers.
Fill out the form below to let us know the book you are looking for. We will check our shelves and get back to you as soon as possible, usually within 2 business hours.  (Include your email or we can’t get back to you!)
Fill out my online form.

Our Local Authors shelf is finally a real shelf – and you can find exclusive copies of books written by your neighbors.  Most are signed, and offered at cover price, with most of the cost going directly to the authors themselves. Support local x 2 by getting a copy of local author’s books here!

Our lesbian book group is such a success, we’re starting another, this time for mystery readers. We’ll nail down the day and time once we have enough people to weigh in on possibilities. If you’re interested in reading mysteries (or lesbian themed books) and discussing them in a group, email
